I don't think I'll do a full week of Godzilla comics, tempting as though it may be, but seeing as Marvel and DC both have Godzilla crossovers on their apps, I couldn't resist. Unfortunately, only the first two issues are on there for now, out of a total of seven, so I was only able to access a small part of the story.
In the aftermath of Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong, the Titans are stuck in the DC world, with the event being referred to as G-Day. Weirdly enough, panels state that it's four years after G-Day multiple times in the same issue, even though there aren't any flashbacks or time travel involved, which has me curious if either of those things are going to crop up in future issues.
The main difference between this story and the first mini-series is the involvement of the Suicide Squad, which includes Lex Luthor. In an attempt to keep the world save from these Titans (and metahumans if need be), Amanda Waller has forced Lex Luthor and the Enchantress to work together in order to turn the more animalistic members of the Squad into their own kaiju.
This method comes with some drawbacks that hit some test subjects harder than others. The first series made it clear that this was an alternate universe from the main DC universe, with several character deaths setting it apart, and this trend continues here. The series starts with Barry Allen marrying Iris West and admitting to his fellow Justice League members that he hasn't told her about his secret identity yet, which gives me a bad feeling that he won't be making it out of this alive.
Godzilla and King Kong don't exactly lend themselves to extensive communication, so they're mostly here for giant monster fights. Kong is, in theory, easier to get along with than most of the Titans, but something seems to have happened to him as he doesn't remember Supergirl when she was a calming presence to him last time.
While I've seen Godzilla: King of the Monsters and the two recent Godzilla vs. Kong movies, I haven't seen everything that this shared universe has to offer, so I was unfamiliar with one character that showed up who is seemingly from the Godzilla vs. Kong side of the equation. As of now, it feels like I've only seen the first forty minutes of a two hour movie, though going into this knowing that it's an alternate universe does leave me feeling more concerned for DC's heroes than normal, which seems like a good thing from a reading perspective as it keeps me guessing. Sure, the likes of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman are undoubtedly safe, but with this being an alternate universe, I can't reliably say that certain characters will definitely survive this story.
