After the past few entries, I'm in the mood for something that's a little more light-hearted.  While I'm familiar with Jeff the Land Shark (he made a splash in Marvel Rivals, pun intended), and I know he has ties to characters like Gwenpool, I don't think I've read anything with him in it.  Still, after Hellblazer, it felt like a series starring an adorable shark with four legs would make for a nice palate cleanser.

The plot is pretty straightforward - while barging into Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum, Jeff's shadow is separated from his body.  He travels through portals that the shadow demon creates, hopping from one Marvel character to another as they try to help him with varying degrees of success.

One thing that I find funny is that seemingly everyone (aside from Rocket Raccoon) knows Jeff on a first-name basis.  Either he's really gotten around since his debut in 2019 or he's just that popular in-universe.  Then again, maybe it's Deadpool's connection to the X-Men that got a lot of them to know who he is, as he teams up with several X-Men over the course of this mini-series. (including the king of random team-ups, Wolverine)

The plot mainly just exists as a justification for all sorts of goofy nonsense, which I am 100% fine with.  Breaking things in the Collector's museum, running through the Savage Land, ninjas attacking a concert; it does a good job with showcasing just how crazy the Marvel universe can be.

I find it funny that, despite the series being for all ages, it involves Rocket Raccoon and Elsa Bloodstone, who throw out all sorts of thinly-veiled curse words (Rocket using outer space substitutes like "flarking" and Elsa using Nextwave-style skulls for censorship).

This series was exactly what I expected going into it, and it was a fun and breezy read. It seems a little strange to me that this series is written by the same person who wrote Absolute Wonder Woman, but that's definitely a testament to her range.
